Outdoor Painting
Oil painting lessons will be offered by artists and teachers, Jillian Mazur and M. Tobias Hall.
What will you learn:
You will be guided through a 6 hour oil painting experience starting with understanding your tools and equipment. We will begin instruction on understanding light using color and value with a Poster Study. We will offer demonstrations, one-on-one instruction and critiques, as well as offer the space and encouragement to ask questions and push your personal limits with exploration.
Instruction will continue with a short demonstration on Painting Directly. You will be guided through the direct painting process including, brush drawing, color blocking, describing form, etc. all while learning how to perceive light (hue, value, chroma).
Where will we meet:
Directions to one of our scenic locations, within 30 minutes of the Santa Fe Historic Plaza, will be provided. We will meet at a designated parking area near the painting site 5 - 15 minutes before the class start time. Students should expect to walk/hike 5 - 15 minutes from the parking area to the painting site.
Pricing:
The $450 per person fee includes all materials (easels, panels, paint, solvents, etc.) and a 6 hour plein air painting experience. Set up and breakdown is included within the duration of the experience. Average painting and instruction time is between 4 - 5 hours.
“Rain Day” Policy:
We try to uphold a rain or shine policy. If conditions such as excessive wind or rain make it too difficult to paint outdoors, then class will be rescheduled, refunded or an alternative same-day painting lesson will be offered (optional).
